ASA Observes International Women’s Day through Diverse Programs

ASA observed International Women’s Day 2018 through various programs. ASA President Md. Shafiqual Haque Choudhury formally inaugurated the observation of the day by releasing white pigeons and colourful balloons in front of ASA Tower, Shayamoli, Dhaka on 8 March at 11:00 AM. Highlighting the importance of the day a discussion program was held at ASA Central Office with the participation of women and men from different parts of the society. In the discussion program as chief guest ASA President said that ASA’s effort will be continued for the development and empowerment of the women. He mentioned that among the ASA beneficiaries 96 per cent are women.

ASA President urged upon all to extend necessary cooperation towards women so that they can attain their rights and are able to establish themselves in the society. Ms. Rabeya Akther Choudhury, Member of ASA Governing Body commented in the discussion that they (women) are waiting for that day when they could live alongside their male counterpart with equal rights and dignity. Senior Deputy President of ASA Mr. M Abdul Aziz, Executive Vice President of ASA Mr. Susil Roy and Dr. Dalem Chandra Barman, Vice Chancellor of ASA University spoke on the occasion. Later on the day indoor games were arranged with participation of female and male employees of ASA and ASA International.
